County canvass deadline: Set by rule, not a fixed date. The statute: “no earlier than twenty-four hours after the notice is posted as required under subsection (1) of this section, the county canvassing board shall proceed with the official canvass of votes cast on election day” (Neb. State certification deadline: Nov 30, 2026 (fourth Monday after the election). (Neb. Rev. Stat. § 32-1037: official text) The statute: “The board of state canvassers shall meet at a location designated by the Secretary of State on the fourth Monday after each statewide primary and general election for the sole purpose of canvassing the votes” Source checked Sep 25, 2026.
Recount request deadline: No filing deadline — recount is automatic and occurs at the county canvass when the statutory margin is met (candidate may instead waive the automatic recount). (Neb. Rev. Stat. § 32-1119: official text) The statute: “Any candidate who failed to be nominated or elected shall be entitled to a recount if it appears, as evidenced by the abstract of votes, that the candidate failed to be nominated or elected by one of the following margins” Source checked Sep 25, 2026.
Election contest filing deadline: Dec 13, 2026 (within 40 days after the election, for statewide offices; district court for Lancaster County). (Neb. Rev.
